It will take you awhile to develop skills at tying the reed on. As I stated before once you tie it on all you basically need to do is clip it. Since you are just beginning I would recommend clipping the reed until you get a B crow. Stop clipping at this point. The cane will vary from piece to piece. Some will blow easy but be flat in pitch and other pieces will be hard to blow and not vibrate well. The seal is very important so try try to look at the how the reed closes from the sides as you tighten the thread. Both sides should close simultaneously. If one side closes before the other then one side will seal better than the other. At the factory they are tying on around 71mm. If you have trouble making the sides close then tie on a mm or two longer for the time being to make it easier. What crow or pitch do you get with your reeds? John
