Well, I just have to add--after years of being a Marigaux person, I'm really starting to like my Lorée. The notes above the staff are less harsh than on the Marigaux, and it's nice to have to push them up a little rather than trying desperately to pull them down.
If I were playing nothing above the staff, though, my Marigaux would be my choice, especially for intonation below the staff. But I couldn't imagine playing, say, the 2nd movement of Brahms violin concerto on my Marigaux if the Lorée were available.
OK, so I at least mentioned intonation in both of the previous paragraphs! And I wouldn't have been so confident of my judgment of the merits of the two instruments if I didn't have my digital tuner (either of them!) close at hand.
