You describe a very practical use, and one I did use when needed. It help train the ear and the body so they work well together.
BTW, if one of your oboes has a consistently flat 2nd octave c, that can be adjusted.
But find a very good repair man, and be there to play test it, perhaps against your other oboe as slight changes are made.
It couple just be pad clearance, and beyond that could require filing the tone hole very carefully to raise the pitch. In that case, it really needs to be play tested frequently as changes are made.
It'd be really nice to have two oboes that behave closely to each other.
