To Brian's excellent advice I would add a few short notes:

1. Screws can be too tight or too loose. A screw that is too tight can be really hard to adjust - and you can damage your instrument while trying. A screw that is too loose will not hold its adjustment. Resolve these issues FIRST, before adjusting. Take the offending key OFF the instrument to do so.

2. Buy the best screwdriver that is a perfect fit for the screw-head. I have NO idea why manufacturers have not moved to T-7 Torx-head screws but until then, you MUST purchase a high quality, hardened-steel screwdriver that will never slip out of the screw while you turn it.

3. Always provide counter-pressure to the key as you adjust the screw - turning the screw while pushing hard against its cork is self-defeating.
