I've gotten several great recommendations for reeds and great advice per my last post, some of which lead me to exploring the idea of starting to make my own.
First off, I don't have an oboe teacher or someone who could teach me how to make reeds so I'm on my own here. I haven't been able to find anyone either.
How hard is it really to make the reeds? If it is an almost impossible task, maybe I will reconsider but then again, I would really like to learn and work at it. I believe that if I could perfect a reed to my taste that it would greatly benefit my playing.
As far as the actual learning goes, does anyone here know of a good book that I could read and go by to learn? Something easy to understand (good instruction/directions) and with pictures and diagrams preferably.
Lastly, the costs of this adventure...I can't afford to spend hundreds to start this, I just don't have that much money on me. What necessary supplies do I need and where can I get them? (staple, cane, string, tools/knives?)
Thank you all so much for your help, I look forward to hearing from you
