Hi!
The cataracts were most probably due to aging and many of my aged friends have had them. They appear very slowly but eventually they dim the sight.
Please don't think that the very slight color change made any difference to me. Some or all of it could be the result of a slight yellowing of the natural lens. The slight color change I noted may just be a return to my original color sense.
Also, don't worry about the operations as they are done so expertly now. It's possible that you will not need them. I read music just fine now, by the way and played a little solo with the LAPD Concert Band recently at the Kennedy Center Stage, no big thing. Good Wishes.
