Years ago while I was at the Conservatory, I too had my new Loree stolen from my car. Someone smashed into my front seat window and took everything visible in the car.
I was told about a few pawn shops in Chinatown that had musical instruments for sale. Fortunately, there were only 2 of them and I found it sitting in one of the pawn shops.
I had reported the loss to the police with serial number and everything that could recover my loss.
Unfortunately, US laws are not sympathetic to victims, but protect those "innocent until proven guilty" hoods. The police cant recover my loss from the pawn shop. If I wanted to pursue the case, I would have to get lawyers and go to court and take the pawn shop on. Pawn shops are generally run by the Chinese mob. Everything and anything was stacked against me. The shop had already lent the money out. The pawn shop wont and not obligated by law to release the name of the perpetrator. The name on the receipt could be fake too. Who knows ! So, at most I could buy the Loree back, which I was not about to do......I hope if Marika finds the Marigaux, I hope the laws in France protects her and sends the perpetrator to the guillotine.
