A few years ago my woodwind quintet played Milhaud's "La Cheminée du Roi René" for a few kindergarten groups, and the kids loved it! Each movement lasts about 1-3 minutes and we made up a story about a day in the life of "Le Roi René-de-Provence" (waking up with the "aubade"(morning serenade), getting entertained with "les Jongleurs" (the jugglers) etc).
Each instrument has a very nice part, the music is very "kid-friendly", and the whole presentation lasted about 25-30 minutes, which can seem long for tiny kids with short attention spans, but we continually alternated between story telling/presententing the next movement and playing, so they never got bored.
We had excellent feedback from the schools who hired us, and I'd do it again anytime! :^D
