Happy Holidays to All,

Well, I just had a successful Christmas Eve gig at a Baptist Church.

Before the service, I had a lesson with my teacher to address performance attitude/tension and review the pieces..

I walked way with the following.

If you concentrate on making "music" and leave the audience moved and engaged ............ then any small errors that might occur will be forgiven and quickly forgotten.

One piece I performed had some minor technical glitches - however, as I played I kept in mind - "make beautiful music" and I made sure that everything I played was full of feeling and color. The music was well received.

I personally - developed a appropriate holiday attitude for the occasion and became part of the service - and when I played I was not centered on my own tension - but on giving to the audience; that attitude - less self centered and more outward oriented also was very effective in lessening tension and in improving my performance.

I hope my own experiences are helpful to other performers.
