Hi Mark,
No substitute for practicing the scales in the same keys as the solos & then practicing the solos until they are nearly memorized. Slowly, then gradually up to speed, maybe a half dozen or so clicks of the gnome higher than concert speed. As many of the more difficult parts of the Vade Mecum orchestral excepts daily as possible, especially Le Tombeau de Couperin, Scheherazade & the slow movement of Tchaikowsky's 4th.
As Jane Orzel, the phenomenal bassoonist of the Monterey Symphony, says: "Practice until it's impossible for you to make a mistake."
