Thanks so much for your reply! I had been wanting to play for years and years (since I was at least 16), and actually bought myself an oboe a couple of years ago, but have had several operations on my spine and ribcage which meant that until very recently I couldn't summon up the breath to get a note out of it. A couple of weeks ago I suddenly realised that it might be beneficial for my breathing, so I did a search on the net and I found the article about your friend Brian - and that's what inspired me to really take up the oboe seriously! It's so nice to hear from someone who knows him, please do send him my regards! :D
