Late answer, but here goes!

Hans plays a Marigaux, and he plays absolutely the French way, he sounds beautiful on it!

Recently, as you will see on my latest posting regarding staples, i have been having problems with the middle c on my new Buffet. I can assure you, this oboe has a beautiful scale and a full resonant sound, warmer than the Loree, to be sure.

Comparing this oboe with the Marigaux (I have many colleagues who play Marigaux), both the 901 and 2001, i find that my Buffet has more edge to the sound, in a positive way. It seems to have more presense in the sound though the Marigaux is in a way more forgiving tonally in that sense. A good reed would have more presence with the Buffet and much more energy in the sound when compared to a Marigaux and a reed with less good tone would sound 'better' with the Marigaux if you know what i mean...

From what i seem to be able to gather at the moment, is that the Buffet doesn't like big staples and big shapes, BUT, herr Albrecht apparently plays on exactly that, and he obviously has no problems does he? Hah!
