 Re: leaving horns on stand?

Well, I always dry my instruments out after playing. I take the horns apart, swab the insides as well as the tenons where water collects, and then let the joints sit on a table for about 5 minutes for any stray water to evaporate. That's when I reassemble them and put them on the stand.

I was more concerned with what gravity might be doing to the fine adjustments as they sit there in a vertical position overnight and for most of the day.

I've done this with my bassoon for a long time, and it never showed any deleterious effects. But its mechanisms aren't as delicate as those belonging to its smaller cousins.

(No cat or other critter to worry about, though!)
