The partial lined top joint bore is a good idea with any exotic wood instruments (and also with grenadilla), especially when the joints have all been matched in appearance and the risk of cracking is significantly reduced. And bushing the toneholes with plastic or ebonite also makes for a cleaner bedplace and any cracks that may occur ("In the unlikely event of ... etc.") won't run through the bedplace.
The problem with exotic wood and cracked joints is that finding a replacement joint with similar visual characteristics as the original joint are difficult unless you have a large stockpile of wood to source a new joint - my own kingwood oboe had the top joint replaced before I bought it, and it's obvious the replacement joint is newer due to the darker colour.
