 Fuzzy E on Marigaux Cor

I have an old (1977) Marigaux cor which I have had since new. Although I've played it only occasionally, (the last professional job I did on it was "Cats" here in Melbourne, Australia in 1988), the one note that is proving very difficult to live with is E (A nat) in both registers. I have had it serviced by Ian Gordon from Howarth and he had no suggestions as to how to rectify this fault. During Cats I had to vent the E with the E flat key and lip down to get the entry for "Memory", so I've had this problem for some time. I use a Dallas no.7 bocal. I've experimented with various lower pads removed and pads changed from skin to cork, even tried blocking the F nat left hand side vent which improves the note or at least makes it less noticable but of course affects the response of the F in the upper octave. The shape of the C# hole seems to have a significant effect on the E. Any clues?
