 Re: oboe / bassoon doubling

I started with oboe and later added bassoon. For me, bassoon playing didn't mess up my embouchure, although if I played oboe right after I played bassoon, it would take minutes to adjust. But then, I play more musical instruments than most (I play almost anything double reed from shawm to contra-bassoon), so it's hard to say.

One of my oboe teachers asked me to stop playing the bassoon if I wanted to study the oboe seriously with him. I ended up stop having lessons with him instead and I think my oboe embouchure is still fine.

In case it makes a difference, I play with a European oboe embouchure.
