Sorry, off topic, but really do need to comment as a warning here --

<<Could you maybe sew something like a pillowcase, but out of fleece or something? >>

Fleece could perhaps be used as the outer cloth if quilted and finished inside to a suitable liner, but 'naked' fleece on the inside of an oboe cosy
puts the oboe at great risk of being littered with small fibre particles.
Any fleece fabric should be laundered several times first, to remove all lint and flock.

One could cut up and recycle old fleece or sweat cloth garments for cosies, already been through the laundry multiple times. However, the cut seams will shed too, so laundering after sewing into cosy still a vital step in the production process.

***The most important thing to remember*** when using any kind of dust cover or cosy for the oboe is that it's ***lint free***

-- that includes surface pilling from wear and use as well as those pile fabrics which predominantly shed readily near their cut edges even when seams are finished properly inside

So that kinda means my dream of a velvet & silk cosy has some problem-solving steps first ...

-- absolutely do not want to enclose oboe in any environment where a supply of loose fibres can stick to the instrument by static and then later work into moving parts or pipe holes

Quilting is probably the best option for increasing the density and warmth of a cosy, provided the inside liner is slippery enough to go on and pull off quickly -- pre-quilted cottons are readily available, but these will need to be lined with a good quality poly liner on the underside because usually a cheap -- and sheddy -- cotton underliner is used to construct the quilting

do not use cheap poly liners either, they tear and shred too easily with wear

Broadcloth (as a potential liner) comes in various % of cotton and poly.
The higher the poly content, the heavier the broadcloth is in weight, but will produce less lint. Some broadcloths have a 'satin' finish which are also lower in lint (after laundering)

launder any new cotton cosy in 'heavy' cycle at least 3 separate times before using it on the oboe

If you're thinking of buying a 'creatively designed cosy' -- is it washable? and will it look the same after washing or will you have to fuss about ironing & pressing or perhaps even spray starching it back into some semblance of pristine condition?
