I'm sorry, I didn't mean to critique you,

I've just seen a lot of young oboists who have/had a school music teacher who has them try solve every problem they may encounter by "opening their throat." Most people don't really specify what they mean by this, and I think, to a younger student especailly, it can get them into bad habits.
