You're not going to be able to get a kid interested in sitting there listening to CDs for very long, and kids don't have the musical background to be able to really grasp what they're hearing. I'd just go with the basics: making a sound that doesn't drive people out of the room. After you've got that down, then start worrying about curriculum, and stuff like "open throats" and past masters.
