Well, I don't know if this will help with the sharpness, but try this:
Make your regular embouchure (which I HOPE is like a whistle, etc.) and then while holding the lips in place, open your teeth. You should get a feeling of roundness and fullness in the inside of your mouth cavity which will help your tone become rounder and fuller. Keep it relaxed and get as much of that "inside air" feeling as possible.
