Making sure that in between every interval there are no glitches or extra notes. Play between the notes! Perfection in fingers (Use a mirror if necessary, find the fingers responsible for the problem at hand.) and air air air! You will come to realise how important this is in the future, and you might or might not regret it depending on how much concentration and time
you have spent on it.

You can learn a lot and lot of different scales and studies and so forth, but that would be pointless if you don't try to make them as perfect as possible. Often times one develops bad habits in legato that are difficult to change after 1-2 years. All the best!
