I've been trying to use AK staples since I've been told they're shaped to be a perfect extension of the bore and in theory a good match; however, I find that many of them come with a very fat cork that is a much better fit for my old D series oboe, which has a slightly wider reed well than my AK oboe. Some of them I can barely remove without alot of force. I'm afraid of getting a staple stuck in the oboe! Has any one else experienced this? I don't want to use cork grease at the top of my upper joint, so I haven't tried that. Any thoughts? Anyone have any idea why Loree would have narrowed the dimensions of their reed well?
