Check out RDG Woodwinds. haven't personally been there but heard lots of good things about them.

I'm not in favor of them. Sadly I don't know of anyone. I won't go into details, but no...

hi there,

Levi Tracy at RDG woodwinds has worked on all of my clarinets.

He does an excellent job.

Seconded for Levy at RDG. I've never had my personal clarinets worked on him but I've played some that have and was impressed by the work.

Without knowing any of the people mentioned nor their work, I will just say that a bass clarinet has many nuances that might not be known by techs who work mainly or exclusively on soprano clarinets. Frankly, sopranos are simple and a cakewalk to work on, compared to bass clarinets.

The advice from Dave Spiegelthal is right on. Bass clarinets can be very tricky, particularly with double register keys which must open and close very precisely. The mechanism is very complicated and care in assembly/disassembly can in and of itself often bring on bridge key problems.

OP, what make and model bass do you have that needs adjustment/repair?

Thanks everybody for the various replies. I really appreciate it.

Levi Tracy worked on my horns before and, frankly, I don't think he did a good job. Spiegelthal's advice is excellent and that is the exact the reason I don't wanna have Levi work on my bass anymore.
I have a low C Buffet model 1193 from the mid 2000s.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
norman
