They're terrible cases! I had a Tosca come in with one of these cases (with the fake carbon fibre shell) and it was already coming apart, just like the Tosca clarinet itself.

They'd be better off using an ice-cream tub!

They really don't seem very classic. They look kind of like grade school lunch boxes for wealthy modern kids.

I don't know what it is with Buffet and cases. They just don't seem to be high quality, considering the high priced instruments they are supposed to protect.

>> Buffet Freestyle Clarinet Case <<
So when you have a lot of rest bars the case joins you in rap improvisation...?

Who would take you seriously as a musician while you're toting one of THOSE things around???

All a matter of taste. I agree with David's comment. Could be very cool for younger players. I hope it's of better quality than some of the comments on this board. That's disappointing.

Seriously Ed, it isn't. It's expensive tat at best or worst depending on your viewpoint.

I wasn't familiar with them and couldn't find a good picture. Here's a short video for the curious:

Not to my tastes, plus they look flimsy. Even Felix Peikli looks a bit like he is speaking under duress, like a hostage reading a script in a ransom video.

The shells are vacuum formed from flimsy plastic, the beading doesn't mesh particularly well around the edges, the handle is very suspect, the fabric lining pulls away from the edges showing the foam beneath it, the clasps don't feel secure, ... I could go on.
Only my observations on a case of this nature that was under a year old that came with a Tosca. I prefer the wooden Tosca cases but even they have their faults. Not really what you expect to be supplied with one of the most expensive production clarinets on the market.
Then again, Buffet (Winter) cases have never been all that - I don't like the cases my Prestige bass and basset horn came with. Not to say Buffet are alone in this - Selmer cases aren't exactly great either.
You're much better off with the plastic case the Yamaha YCL-26II and 34II came in and for a fraction of the cost. And you can get far more in them too!
