I am having difficulty finding a fun closer for my recital featuring clarinet, piano and soprano.

Any suggestions?

I'm assuming you're already doing Shepard on the Rock...

"When dasies pied": text by Shakespeare, music by Arne, arranged by Lazarus, published by Emerson.

How good is the soprano compared to how good she thinks she is? Sorry.... :)

"Three Songs of Innocence". I can't recall the composer off the top of my head but I did these for my undergrad recital in college and they were well received. Very tuneful, beautiful harmonies with good balance between soprano (she has to be "good"), clarinet (you should have an A clar) and piano. Hmmmm.....I seem to remember Cook as the composer, but I am not sure. Mine was a shared recital with the soprano, so the trio was a good closer for us. Regardless, it is nice music to listen to and would be a good closer for any recital.

for soprano, clarinet in A, and piano These words by William Blake, full of innocence and cheer, are set to a 20th-century musical setting with a folkish flavor.

Look for: "Six Clerihew Songs" by Paul Harris, for voice, clarinet and piano. The voice part is more for low soprano or alto however. These are very short and very humorous pieces, and fun to play and perform. Paul Harris writes a column in every issue of The Clarinet, from the U.K.

It's hard to beat "Shepherd on the Rock" as a closer!

While it does not have piano, another option you might consider is Gordon Jacob's "Three Songs for Soprano and Clarinet." It is for the A clarinet.

I agree that "Shepherd on the Rock" is a great closer.
