Here are the measurements I took of the two barrels that came with my Lyrique A clarinet.
Barrel #1 (no commercial marking, but I added a piece of tape to write on):
Length: 62-mm
Upper bore 15.30 mm
Lower bore 14.10-mm
Upper socket depth 17.55-mm
Lower socket depth 19.51-mm
Barrel #2 (no commercial marking, but I added a piece of tape to write on):
Length 62-mm
Upper bore 14.10-mm
Lower bore 14.30-mm
Upper socket depth 17.25-mm
Lower socket depth 19.50-mm
Upper joint upper bore 14.8-mm
Upper joint tenon length 17.95-mm
Interestingly, the bottom sockets of the barrels are about 1.5-mm (0.06-in) longer than the upper joint's upper tenon --leaving a gap in the bore even when the barrel is pushed all the way in.
Similarly, my mouthpiece tenons are about 17-mm long, leaving a similar 1.5-mm gap at the mouthpiece end.
Interestingly,
Bob Phillips
