They were made in ebonite with either silver or nickel plated keys.

The ebonite ones were mainly built for parade use and tropical climates, though most of them are wooden.
B&H also made ebonite-bodied Imperial flutes, oboes and bassoons alongside wooden-bodied ones for the same reason as they were the main supplier of band instruments to the UK military bands - from piccolos to BBb basses.

I had an ebonite (hard rubber) 926 once. A bit olive-greenish it was, but played very nicely.
