Dear All,

I will be performing a concert near Toronto and since I am already arriving there, I was wondering if anyone can advise me of places that I could run my program in the area of Toronto of London, ON. It will be of course for nearly or surely free, but would give me a chance to run the program.Any idea or even names of places I could contact would be more than welcome..
Much appreciate your help,
Michal.

Hi Michal,

Just about every little restaurant and coffe shop (and Subway Station) has live music here (Downtown). There is a starter chart for you at:

http://www.toronto.com/music/livemusicchart

Also Google live music toronto, and now magazine

Try contacting Peter Stoll <peter.stoll@utoronto.ca> he works at University of Toronto and may be able to help you out. He is regular poster on the klarinet list

What kind of concert are you preparing? This would give us a better idea of how to answer.

Please let us know where you'll be performing once you decide - I'm part of a clarinet choir here in Hamilton, Ontario and a few of us may be able to see you while you're here. We're a little south of the 401 highway that takes you between London and Toronto, but by only a few kms.

Hi to all,

Many thanks for your help. To be more specific, I will play Reger Sonata, Piazzola histoire Du tango, probably a short solo piece, than a pice written by my pianist, which we performed in my Carnegie Hall debut concert. He will also play a solo piece(he is amazing). We will keep the last piece a surprise, but it will be a fun one..
So, classical with a bit of everything in it.
I am not allowed to perform in Restaurants, but venues like schools and churches works just fine.
Our performance will be on Sunday May 20 at 3 pm, in the Wolf Hall(Central Library), 251 Dundas St.
I would love to see some people in the crowd of course...
Thanks again,
Michal

Michal,

check out The Wholenote magazine (http://www.thewholenote.com)

It's the most complete listing of classical, jazz and world music events in Toronto and environs. Listings are free; you should make sure they have the information regarding your event.

"I am not allowed to perform in restaurants, . . . "

Huh? By whom are you restrained from performing where ever you choose? Eu

Thanks once again for the info!
I am not allowed by the canadian gov to play in venues such as restaurants and Cafes, in accordance to my entry status(I am not Canadian). I can perform in concert places such as churches, schools and performance halls. Why??beats me, but since I am just a visitor and have no desire to mess with the law, I will have to respect it.
Thanks again..
michal.
