We've determined that my clarinet, serial number 293xx is from 1946 and is therefore not a "real" R13. My question is, as long as it is in good shape and plays well, would this be a good step-up instrument for a high school or college student? Is it permissible to refer to it as a Pre-R13 or is it really just a Professional model Buffet?

If it's in good shape, then yes, its a fine instrument to step up with! I don't think it can really be called a "pre-R13", though it really doesn't matter all that much... they often get mis-marked as R13's on "the unmentionable site" and the like, so I guess the Professional model would be more accurate.

What happened to the other thread? I was curious to read other people's take on the E11's being made in France comment - didn't know that ever happened, but hey . . . I have a vast array of issues on which I am poorly informed.
