That's exactly how I sounded on my 100C's.

Loved the way the little guy went for it. Maybe I will put off buying Wurlitzers for a while though.

What kind of clarinet is that?

Isn't the tune called, "Axel Foley's theme" from Beverly Hill's Cop?

This is a full Oehler system horn, only missing the vents for low E and low F. Perhaps it is a student line model of some sort.

OOPS!!! It's also missing a key between left hand 1st and 2nd fingers. The keys appear to be silver.....hmmmmmm.

Yeah, 'Axel F' by Harold Faltermeyer - if only he knew his tune had become a study.

It's a student German system he's playing - I think all German systems are generally silver plated, like all oboes tend to be (as well as variable in the amount of keywork they have depending on how much money you're prepared to part with).

The opinions I express are my own.

That collection of videos reminds me (unfortunately) of why band kids were so regularly stuffed into lockers...

I give the kid credit for memorizing and having decent technique at that age!

Here's another one of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWA9bH2cGXk&search=clarinet

Not too bad for a kid his age I guess...

I was watching some of those videos. Is it the recording set up they used (camcorder built in mic, I assume) or my headphones that make the higher notes screech like that? I'm afraid to record myself now. If I sound like that to others, I don't want to hear it.

Hey, the kid is 11, he's bold, he clearly loves the music, and he's going for it all-out. I'd love to see a clip of him every year for the next 10 years. If he keeps the fire in his belly, he's going to be pretttttty gooood.

Not every kid is a prodigy. At that age, enthusiasm and love of music are probably just as valid measures of future ability as an early appearance of having talent. Lots of child prodigys fizzle out in their teens...some go on to greatness...but one of the common denominators found among successful performers is an early love of performing.

Heh, don't worry. I didn't mean to insult the kid (I have a problem with saying things in the worst way possible without realizing it). I'm 25 and probably sound worse, but those high notes are like a head through my head (particularily the "Carnival of Venice" videos from that site), and I was more wondering if that is a byproduct of low quality recording materials or maybe just my cheap headphones.
