Sachs didn't have anything of note, BUT my Larousse Ency. of Music on pg 256 has a sentence speaking of tonal diffs from the Ger bsn AND a pic of a ?modern? French bsn, however not being a "buffoonist" I couldn't find the differences. Try a Google-net search, it might be helpful. Don
