Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction of where I could find specifications for making a barrel for my metal Noblet? I have a friend who has a metal lathe who thinks he could turn one out for me if he had all the dimensions. After looking at a few examples on Ebay I realise that there is not a "standard" one size fits all barrel I am able to take photos of the clarinet to assist in its identification if anyone could possibly assist.

Its great to talk with a famous composer ! I hope Jim Lande may give you some info re: Noblet. My poor-quality Victory with a non-original barrel measures 15 mm bore, cl and top-section of barrel , it has an enlarged socket of course [some 1/2-5/8 " in length] to accommodate the O D of the tenon/cork. The mp socket is about 23 mm. I'm quite sure these horn bores are all cylindrical, is this correct Jim?

Probably your best bet, Prokofiev, is to try to find one in some repair shop's junk box.
If that quest fails, at least try to find one close to what you need and let your machinist friend copy and/or alter to match your instrument. Be prepared for some possibly long and tedious hours of trial-and-error.
Depending on your approach to this project, and what you turn up to work with, you might also need to do (or have done) a bit silver (hard) soldering.
I know from personal observation that it can be done and I wish you well.

I had a Noblet metal with a missing barrel and could not find a spared one. I finally found a repair man who had one but would not let it go, so he gave me a sketch with all measurement for me to have one made. The result is great. I can email it to you if you want, just send me your email address. You'll be able to to see from the sketch if it will fit I believe.

Metal Noblets have more than one size barrel depending on when they were made. Measure the end of your clarinet, and tell me the serial number.

Hi all,
Apologies for kicking this (very) old threat, but using the search engine I ended up here and hopefully the earlier contributors to this post are still active and can help me out.
Recently I bought a metal Noblet clarinet, the one with the raised logo on the bell, as a new adventure next to playing my wooden Buffet Crampon and alto sax. Surprisingly joyful!
However, the Noblet came with a replacement mouthpiece barrel, and not a pretty one. Metal clarinets are rare here in the Netherlands. Does maybe someone on this forum has a spare mpc to sell, or otherwise - I happen to know someone with a metal lathe as well; I would be very grateful if I could make use of the proper sketches with measurements.

If you don't receive an answer, you might try contacting Jim Lande. He doesn't frequent the bboard as often as he once did, but he is passionate about metal clarinets and has quite a few contacts.
