I went for the Yamaha Custom 821TP when I took up oboe again as it was an ex-demo model and the price was right (and cheaper than a used Marigaux or Loree), though it did have a split top joint which opened up and Yamaha sent me a replacement top joint free of charge. Though I always had trouble with the saggy Gs on this one.

I sold it in 1999 to a Loree player who wanted a newer (and full Gillet) instrument, and I'd had several keywork alterations done to it (better thumbplate, repositioned 3rd 8ve touch, lug soldered to RH 1 fingerplate and some other things here and there), though the more recent Yamaha oboes are much better and have these keywork options fitted as standard for the UK market.
