 BullFrog Effect

I agree with the importance of warmup, however I have been having trouble with something so far not preventable by warming up. As my neck expands, it seems to get past a point were it can hold the tension comfortably- you know- a little bullfrogy... and then the blood vessles start to elevate from my skin. This is not a comfortable thing. Has anyone had this issue and conquored it? My reed resistance varies from med-light to med-hard.
