Dear James,
Your comments appear to be an excellent summation of the situation. Now, if it is even known at this point, what was the general reaction in Britain to the visit of deLancie to record the Ibert, Satie, and Francaix pieces with the LSO under Previn in the late 60's (?) and then Ray Still recording the Strauss, and other works with that group with the unusal name, the London something or other under Richard Stamp (??) in the late 80's (?).
I just remembered that Evelyn Rothwell had just been in Chicago when I was studying with him and he said that she had talked with him at length and that she was "...pumping him for information". My guess was that she was trying to find out, how he did it! That was a long time ago now. Regards, LoreeBF51
