Would a very experienced recording engineer who also played the oboe be close enough?! I feel the Tabuteau-DeLancie school has a "darker" sound than the Still-Bloom school does. And yet, I was told that the reeds from the T-D school have extremely thin tips, while the S-B school uses less thin and possibly shorter, very tips. Is that true and could that be a clue? I always wanted to set up a recording system with an Audio band, Spectrum analyzer and record various oboists from the two schools and see if that "harmonic content", really accounted for the difference in tone quality. Maybe some day. Regards, Loree BF 51
