I just got a new reed (a very, very good one, from Davie Cane). The staple (Sierra) seems somewhat larger than most of my other reeds, and thus it fits very tight. Which is OK, but when I push it *all* the way in, for some reason, my right hand notes don't play at all. Top joint is fine, but bottom joint just doesn't work. Then if I pull it out a little, it all works again. I've had tight staples before without this problem. Have any of you ever experienced anything like this? What could possibly be happening to make the lower joint not sound, simply by pushing a staple all the way in?
