An air leak might be possible.
Using the 'pop' method to see if there is an air leak might be a good way to find out. Either ways, too much exertion on the reed might be causing the reed to close up-down instead of opening up sideways. When you find the solution to your problem i will be interested in knowing it!!!! So make sure you check back with us!!!
