The Oboe BBoard

Folks, I have a problem that has been a pain in the side for the past couple of months. I play a Fox F300 pro model oboe (very nice most of the time); however, recently my alternate e-flat key is malfunctioning. Once pressed the pad that it actuates stays down or only raises partially...barely clearing the hole. Now if I use my standard e-flat, the oboe reacts normally.
Upon close examination I have noticed that there is a very thin piece of metal underneath the pad "pivot" (sorry but that is the best way I can explain it) and when the key is depressed that piece of metal lowers, but the key remains virtually stationary. When I use my finger to move the pad it works, but you can tell that it is somewhat stiff.
I have had this examined two to three times and it will work for a short period before it fails again. What I am wondering is if any of you might know what is going on and is there a way I might adjust it to make it function. That being said...I am virtually an amateur with this type of problem.
There is one other local music store where I can take this for repair (he's done well for me in the past, but he shivers when he sees an oboe coming through the door.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes,
Chuck Cobern
