Although, either the microphones were not well placed or the young oboe superstar prodigy is letting the stars fill his ego..... I would like to hear the clarinet more.
This video should make it clear that oboe and clarinet are not in competition for superiority, as instruments go, they just sound different and have different qualities. Each is capable of playing the repertoire of the other and each is capable of playing in any style.... but they sound different, they feel different and that's what makes them both great!.... they just have the bad luck of looking reasonably similar...... from a distance......
