Hi, J -

I agree that the convexity will affect the width of the shape, though I would venture that most of the shaper tips I have seen are considerably 'flatter' than the interior couge of the cane - in the neighborhood of ~ 20mm radius.

Because of the clamps this would introduce a greater effect toward the bottom of the shape than the tip end where the cane is free to seek it's own radius - except for the flattening effect of the fold...
