The recent threads on tone quality and embouchure development, plus some threads I've found with the search feature have raised a question -
After four weeks as a beginner working with the Essential Elements I have the Bb and F scales fingering. I read music so I don't need the lessons on counting, etc.
Wouldn't it be better to work on long tones, these two scales and their arpeggio studies until I can consistently play these in tune, while also concentrating on breathing and correct embochure development rather than just slogging through playing more tunes and new notes?
Then, only when I can play these satisfactorily, and correct mouth and breathing require less concentrated thought, go back to learn new notes and eventually add additional scales?
I question just going through the lessons numerically. I have no teacher so am winging this.
