I am still (no pun) reading this again and again, trying really hard to mine as much wisdom as I can from it.

I may have to take up yoga or transcendental meditation to really grasp all of it, though.

The tennis metaphor though rang straight through. It was my main sport for many years, and when the stroke is easy and the body well balanced, the power transferred to the ball is unmatched by deliberate force. I love it when that happens, and also when it happens with oboe.

But the feeling is elusive and fleeting, like it is with good improvisational inspiration for me.

Still, I love it when it happens. And I crave it when it goes missing....
