I've oiled the bore of my 6 month old oboe about 3 times...can't say I've noticed anything in the immediate aftermath of each oiling...I oil very conservatively, so I'd be surprised if it made much difference. I do notice that water buildup in an oboe does affect the tone. After swabbing a reasonably "wet" oboe, I find that the sound frees up a bit. This is one among several reasons that I swab quite frequently.
