Good guess, but I think the "die" mislead you! In this case, "die" marks the plural: Die holtzblâser-the woodwinds. Holtzblasinstrument (woodwind instrument) is actually neutral. (But you were almost right... " die" can also mark feminine, but here, the "ä" in Bläser indicates plural, and justifies the use of "die"... Ah German!)
