With oboes, the older one is does not necessarily mean the better.
A B series is probably 40 years old or more, and unless it's in pristine condition, i wouldn't buy it. The bore wall is thinner than today's oboes, making it a much brighter instrument. If you do decide to buy it, consider sending it to Mr. Weber for a bore adjustment. He has a very old C series instrument which he has adjusted the bore and it plays like a dream.
A B series instrument in top form isn't worth more than $2000, and is probably closer to $1500 or so.
