Speaking of o-rings at the tenons. At the 2005 IDRS convention, Philippe Rigoutat had an oboe with an o-ring between the top and bottom joints. On this model of oboe, he repositioned the G# vent to a place more equidistant between the vents for the left-hand ring finger and the right-hand index finger. Because this cut down on the space available for the tenon, a conventional cork tenon would not be secure enough so instead he used a metal locking mechanism (sort of like the way the gas-cap on my car works) and an o-ring to make it airtight.

WRT the Chudnow tubes, I'm not a fan of either model. Chacun a son gout.
