Those are the only two I know of. I tried to rent one from both places 3 years ago and had no luck, so I actually wound up buying one instead. Apparently their rental English horns are in great demand. If you have a local music store or repair shop that does a decent job on double reed instruments, check with them, it doesn't hurt to ask. You might also ask a local college, but I would imagine they'd probably be unwilling to let it leave the campus.

I rented one last year from Bellflower Music (in the LA area). They had two instruments available at the time - 3 month minimum at $100 a month.
Adequate instruments for what I needed - playing "Beauty and the Beast" with a high school orchestra.
Good Luck!!

I'd check with whatever local music dealer handles the school-band-instrument rent-to-own trade. If they don't have one in stock, they can almost certainly rustle one up for you, from somewhere.

hi Walter-- I bought the Fox model 555. It was very reasonably priced and I think it's a really great horn for the money. It's the resonite model, not grenadilla.........which I actually view as a plus, since I don't have to worry about cracking: my EH playing seems to come in spurts. I am either playing it a lot or not at all!

Thank you to all with your replies. I am hoping that I'll be able to rent an instrument for a month or so from Midwest. They suggested that the rentals will free up at the end of the academic year.
Since I live in Vermont, I will actually go to the IDRS convention this year which is in Ithaca, NY. There I hope to look at the offerings and maybe buy and EH.
