I have that Temple University recording and I actually am in need of something like the cadenza at the very end of the piece as I can't lift that cadenza from the recording (it goes by a little fast for my ears). As for the repeated D's, I don't really do anything special to my reeds, just make sure that they are flexible and can play a good range. If anything I find that I don't need a reed that has marvelous highs for this piece since there is nothing above the high D, and little above the staff as it is. Other than that, if you are having issues with the repeated D, make sure that you have had your oboe adjusted and that should help with the notes coming out easier. I have seen some strains here that say you should seal your F resonance key, but I don't think that is the "key" please pardon my pun, as I have never had issues with that. Also, I have cork on all of my pads except the C, B' and BFlat keys which are leather, and I find that this helps with speaking in that low register. Bladder pads are awful and don't help the instrument in any way.
Thanks
