Hold you reed under warm, running tap water for a couple of seconds. When it is thoroughly soaked put it back in your reed case and it will be well soaked up.
This is how I have soaked my reeds for years now. No need to walk around with a thing of water like a medical sample, or leave your reed standing in the water for minutes, on the rehearsal room floor, where it can be stepped upon by some clumsy horn player!
